This week we have been working on life events. Not only we have learnt quite a lot we didn't know, but we also have to put them in a logical order, in groups. Then, we have discussed among the groups the correct order. It has been quite interesting, and amusing. ALthough we all agree that there is not a correct order, this image below tries to set some of them in the most common order those events happen. However it is, you have done pretty well!!

LIE - LAY - LIE

LIE (regular verb)(mentir) - lied - lied

(lying - 3rd person: lies)

LAY (poner, depositar) - laid - laid

(laying - 3rd person: lays)

LIE (apoyarse, tumbarse) - lay -lain

(lying - 3rd person lies)

TRAVEL, LABEL, MARVEL.

If it is CVC, but the last letter is an L, we double the L:

"travelled, labelled, marvelled"

sin embargo, los podemos ver de ésta otra:

Las dos son perfectamente válidas. En USA ellos lo hacen simple, sin doblar. Así que técnicamente ambas formas serían correctas. Aunque es mejor que si lo hacemos todo el Británico, ésto también, porque es más correcto no mezclar ambas pronunciaciones.

FORMACIÓN DE LOS VERBOS EN -ING

* regla general

La regla del —ing simplemente nos dice que para formar el gerundio en inglés basta añadir —ing al verbo.

play playing

read reading

wait waiting

* excepciones

1 Los verbos que terminan en —e, quitan la —e antes de añadir —ing. Si terminan en —ee, hacen el gerundio normalmente.

love loving

come coming

see seeing

2 Los verbos formados por una sola sílaba que solo tienen una vocal y terminan en consonante, doblan la última consonante y añaden —ing.

run running

win winning

sit sitting

3 Los verbos de dos sílabas con la acentuación en la segunda sílaba también doblan la consonante.

begin beginning

prefer preferring

admit admitting

4 Los verbos terminados en una sola vocal + L, doblan la L antes de añadir —ing en inglés británico pero no en inglés americano.

travel travelling (UK)

travel traveling (USA)

5 Los verbos terminados en —y hacen el gerundio normalmente.

play playing

study studying

carry carrying

Aquí tenéis un listening sencillito que trata sobre el tema que llevamos trabajando todo éstos días: shopping and clothes. En el "play" tenéis el audio, y en el PDF tenéis los ejercicios. Ya sabéis que como está en PDF podéis apuntar las soluciones en un Word y mandármelo, o en una hoja de papel, hacerle un foto y mandármela.

EASTER HOLIDAYS

Os dejo aquí dos documentos, y os explico:

- uno de ellos es para repasar el vocabulario: tenéis varios enlaces que llevan a una página con fichas que he preparado de tal manera que podáis hacer online (responder en la misma página). Una vez que hayáis respondido, tenéis que darle a "terminar" y se os autocorrige.

- el otro es para repasar la gramática, y ese no lo tenéis online, si lo hacéis, me lo mandáis a mi, yo os lo corrijo encantada. Al estar en Word, no necesitáis imprimir ni hacer nada, podéis responder directamente en el documento y enviármelo.
